Our ladies' group really enjoyed touring this beautiful, historic mansion - it was so much more than we expected! And Theresa is a charming hostess, we loved listening to her beautiful Irish accent!
-- Mrs. W.T., Dallas, Texas
The Cogdell house on Thorp Spring Road is a magnificent 6,500 square-foot Craftsman-style house, built in 1905. The elegant mansion has been lovingly preserved and is in excellent condition. When this house was built, it was considered ultra-modern. It even had central heating throughout!

THE HISTORIC COGDELL MANSION
The mansion has many of its original features, including:
- Beautiful copper leaded glass
- Pristine long leaf yellow pine floors
- Original built-in cabinets
- Original craftsman-style light fixtures throughout
- Original dining room furniture and bedroom furniture
THE ORIGINAL 7 FOOT-LONG TUB
This lovely old home is full of wonderful antiques, many of which are original to the home. There is an old Victrola which was bought by the original Cogdel family in 1923. It still has all of its records, and it is still in working condition.
The historic Cogdel mansion is one of the few homes in Texas with a basement. The tour takes you down to view the bedroom in the basement known as the "Wine Cellar Bedroom".

DELICIOUS FRESH BAKED IRISH SCONES

The tour continues over a delicious plate of fresh-baked Irish scones and hot tea or coffee, while your hostess recounts the fascinating story of the granddaughter of the house - Phillipa Shuyler, who was a world-famous child prodigy, musical genius and published author. A book has been written about her life and is due to be made into a movie by Halle Berry.
